ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Judith Voss

(she, her, hers)

Founder & Artistic Director of Transformational Personal Theatre, LLC

Judith has been an expressive arts facilitator and performance artist for thirty years. After dropping out of high school, Judith went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in English from U.C. Santa Barbara, a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from a Depth Perspective from Pacifica Graduate Institute, and an interdisciplinary Doctorate of Education in Special Education from the University of Oregon,  focusing on building inclusive community and re-visioning modern institution.

As a Creative Visionary, ideas for performances channel through Judith as an act of divine inspiration, usually sparked by a particular piece of music. Each show has been conceived this way: Judith hears a song, and the entire vision of a performance comes to her. All of her work is founded on giving a voice and a forum for individual stories to be told as an act of healing, and to raise consciousness in the general public in order to generate greater acceptance of diversity in all its many forms.

Judith’s gift and passion is calling forth individual potential and encouraging people of all ages, abilities, and walks of life to find and live their most authentic selves. She has developed and facilitated numerous performance art experiences and creative expression groups in educational and recreational settings, as well as in long term care facilities, on the streets, and in public venues. Judith dedicated her life many years ago in service to others. With an eclectic array of professional stints in social services, teaching, educational research, program coordination, and curriculum development, Judith opted not to enter into a formal counseling practice. Instead, she has integrated all that she has experienced and learned into a “counseling without walls” approach in her interactions with those in need of soul tending. As such, she subscribes to the principles of unconditional positive regard, and deep, empathic listening and response to human pain and suffering.

Judith is guided daily by her ancestors, and by her connection to what Malidoma Some’ terms, “that invisible place of incomparable power,” which she calls God. It is from that place that Transformational Personal Theatre and the current show came to be. Her prevailing goal in life is to ever-become a more kind and compassionate person.

“My passion is supporting others to find and live their own”

The day will come when, after harnessing the ethers,

the winds, the tides – gravitation – we shall harness for God the energies of love.

And, on that day, for the second time in the history of the world,

humankind will have discovered fire.

– Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
